Some will offer giant rebates on what turns out to be the "highest efficiency" most expensive equipment in their catalog. What they don't tell you is that you may NEVER recoup that investment in the time you plan to remain in your home and that even today's "lowest efficiency" replacement is likely far more efficient than the equipment in your home -- especially when it's properly installed.
Others offer a price far lower than anyone else's. What they don't tell you is that in order to get there, they have to cut corners. First among them is their failure to measure and calculate the proper size of the replacement and the proper ductwork configurations for its installation. They simply swap out the old for new equipment of similar size without ever determining if that was the right choice in the first place.
Still some give away "FREE Tune-ups." What they don't tell you is that those appointments are less about improving the efficiency and comfort of your system than they are about giving them another shot at a high-pressure replacement sale.
